I'm a huge fan of Anime, and I also read manga. Altough I prefer the Anime. Basically what I wanted to do with this thread is; If you like Anime, post your favourite shows! If anyone is interested in finding new Animes to watch, it should be able to to be found here! (Altough I'm a bit over the top huge fan so I guess my list a lone is enough to entertain for a lifetime).
My top 6 favourite is:
Gurren Lagann, Trigun, One Piece, Bleach, Fairy Tail and Tokyu Ghoul. <- In this order, too.
I also have some weird ones that can be fun, mindfucking or simply not the ordinary:
Another, Durarara!!, Hetalia, Kill la Kill (Altough Kill la Kill is an awesome Anime, the plot is kinda weird and rather crazy..)
And then just overall Animes I've watched (AND LIKED!!)
Death Note, FullMetal Alchemist, Naruto, Eureka 7, Akame ga Kill, Tokyo Ghoul: Root A(It's Tokyo Ghoul season 2), Dragonball (Season 1 when Goku's a kid), Soul Eater, Shingeki no Kyojin, Ao no Exorcist, Sword art Online, Hunter x Hunter, Hellsing, and last but definately not least; Baka & Test: Unleash The Beasts (I think it was that atleast, if not then just go with Baka & Test..)
15+:
I decided this would be 15+ because they contain nudity (No sex though), but despite that they're quite fun and action-packed! (And boobs! Oppaiii~~)
Highschool DxD, Girls Bravo and Heaven's Lost Property
I do have plenty more which I don't remember at the moment, that I'd remember when and if I ever saw the names.. Heh. Anyway the list is probably long enough, I bet if there's any Anime lovers in here as I am, there's bound to be new ones to watch!
As a little sidenote I'm currently going to watch Black Butler and Noragami, which I have no clue what it's about.
EDITS: (Will give brief summaries of new Anime's I've watched, and my TOP animes!)
Noragami (Stray God) - Is an excellent Anime, that sets the story about a god-turned human, who's seeking to build his very own shrine for people to pray at. Along his path to his shrine, he loses his weapon, and finds a human friend (That for some reason can see him without problems) who helps him look for a new weapon. This human friend is capable of leaving her body behind her soul, drastically increasing her agility and strength.
Black Butler was shit. Got to episode 4 and basically the butler's an invincible demon that as the title proposes; cannot die. Doesn't seem like there's any real plot and the butler is serving a spoiled brat "Until I claim his soul", which could mean he's a demon capable of just taking his soul right away, but for some reason enjoys being a babysitter more than being the demon he reveals himself to be.
Watched another anime called Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (The Irregular at magic high school) One of the MCs are as the butler in Black Butler, invincible. Basically he can restore his own body back 24 hours (meaning that if he's shot in the head, or any other part of his body, he can restore it back to a previous time within 24 hours it hasn't been damaged) He can also do that to other people, with a cost. He will feel 150 times greater pain than whoever he restored. (Imagine someone being shot, should hurt a lot. And then feel that 150 times stronger... I'd die just from the pain. BUT he doesn't even react to it. The plot is awesome, and the other MCs are really cool, making up for the practically immortal one.
It's also based on a century where magic is a weapon that almost everyone uses. Altough some are againts the use of magic, they still use it themselves. Pretty messed up. Overall: A great anime which I'd love to have a 2nd season of.
I also updated my top "5" list, to become top 6, because I totally forgot about Trigun, which is the 2nd best Anime I've ever seen. Basically it's about a guy whose name is "Vash", but due to him constantly being around when danger happens, people believe he's the cause of it, so they place a bounty on his head, nicknaming him "Vash the Stampede". He's actually very peace loving, and wouldn't even hurt a fly. Despite this he's probably one of the funniest, yet best gunmen in Trigun history. Along his constantly changing road, he meets two detectives, who's supposed to look after Vash and take him into custody. They come to realize that he's not a bad guy at all, and instead accompanies him. The story is at first so awesome and fun that even if it would suck later on you wouldn't be able to stop watching it, that's how good the beginning was, BUT, the second half of the anime isn't bad at all! It's not as funny, but it's insanely deep and touching, and it really hit me right in the feels. I'm not going to spoil it all so that there's no point in watching it for you, so go ahead and watch it, I greatly recommend it!
Gurren Lagann is the most recent of the animes I've watched, and is placed on the best anime I've watched simply because the action is amazing, the art is amazing, the plot is amazing, and the characters are amazing! Imagine watching an anime, and then it suddenly begins to rot away, the instant you feel it's going just a little bit down, it skyrockets WAY above what it really was. (If I were to tell you how it dropped a little bit in it's awesomeness, you wouldn't even watch it, so I'm leaving that out.) At the beginning of the anime, you get to know an insane coward, Simon, who anyone could basically control, EASILY. That's how much of a coward he is. However, he's probably one of the best diggers there is, and one night when digging, he finds a somewhat treasure. That treasure he finds is actually the key to creating a new, and better world. Before all of this happens though, you get to meet his "Aniki" (Big-bro/Boss/etc.) who is probably the only reason I liked it to begin with. Kamina, is no way similar to Simon, in any way. Kamina is reckless, fearless, and one of the most fun characters I've ever seen. His biggest, and only goal, is to get out of the village they are in, with getting Simon to dig through the roof, to get out to the real world. When getting there, he sets a new goal: To reach for the skies. He is the only reason Simon could find the courage to face anything head-on, and he constantly fights for something. For Kamina, there is no greater treasure than aiming for the skies with his "Little brother", Simon. At the start, it's only them, but along the way they meet new people (People you're REALLY going to just LOVE) When they get to the "real world", where there actually exist skies, Kamina and Simon finds themselves surrounded with danger everywhere. On the surface lives the "Gunmen", who are created on the sole purpose of keeping the human life count in check. (before they get to the surface they actually meet a girl named Yoko because of a fight that got out of hand in their village.) The anime is just worth every second, and Simon really develops into a whole new character through the ending, who's even better than the first one!
Fairy Tail's official description says it's about a girl called Lucy Hearfilia looking for members of a guild called Fairy Tail to join the guild and so on, but to me, that's bullshit. Fairy Tail's about the WHOLE guild, and other guilds! It's a magic-themed anime that will always have a place in my heart, due to it's sheer awesomeness. Natsu is what I would say the true MC in this anime, because if there is an obstacle, there is nothing that can stop him from climbing it (But knowing Natsu I know he'd just obliterate the god damn obstacle and then just run straight through.) but sometimes, the greatest power is the nakama power everyone in the guild "Fairy Tail" has, and there is really no stopping them when they work together. I'm not going to make a thorough summary of this anime, because it's really long (The anime stopped around 2013 because of one of the voice actors getting seriously sick, and they caught too much up on the manga so they postponed it for 1 year. Basically the first part is "Fairy tail", with 175 episodes, and then there's "Fairy Tail 2014", so watch the "Fairy Tail first or you'll end up thinking this is among the worst animes there is.) so a short description on the longer ones like Bleach, One Piece and Fairy Tail is to be expected.
Tokyo Ghoul however, is a somewhat sadistic anime (You'll get what I mean when you get atleast halfway through), but it's really good, with lots of action. Basically it's focused around Ghouls in Tokyo. They look like humans, act like humans, and sometimes even try their best at coexisting with humans. Only thing is, Ghouls can't eat with humans, they normally eat humans. Eating human food is for Ghouls like it would be for humans to eat ash, but some manage to learn how to pretend they're eating, while others really struggle to be a normal human, even though they can't. Kaneki was a normal human to begin with, but he was at the verge of death when a Ghoul tried to eat him, however he was transported to a hospital, along with the dead ghoul, and they transplanted some of the ghoul organs to the human, Kaneki. Resulting in him being half-ghoul, half-human, making him a very big treath to other ghouls. If you've seen Parasyte it's pretty similar. He kills Ghouls that kill & eat humans, but spare those who don't. At first, Kaneki is an utter noob whose only protection is the ghoul organs in him. The organs transplanted into him belonged to one of the most powerful ghouls, and thus, the powers of one of the most powerful are his. Altough at first he can't control them, and it only appears when he is in grave danger and really needs it's protection when he's facing certain death. After the sadistic part, where he's being tortured he becomes able to control the power even better than the original ghoul. Turning him into a total badass. Definately recommended to watch!
One Piece is basically the story of a boy who ate a Devil Fruit that turned him into a "Rubber-Man" that was "raised" by one of the legendary pirates, striving the become the king of the pirates. Along the way he meets several uniquely skilled people that he recruits to become pirates in his crew. There's not so much to say about it other than it's a must-see anime. It's been on air since 1997 (That's 18 years guys) and it's announced that the anime is only half-way yet. (another 18 years of an amazing anime, thank god!) So going in-depth on this one is rather useless... Unless I take the time to write a novel about it.
Bleach as well is one of the longer animes (Altough it's been off-air for a few years now, making it 366 episodes so far, but the re-airing of Bleach has been announced as to when the manga's finished, which should be around December this year.) And it's about a boy who since he was a child was able to see "Ghosts", or "Spirits", and Shinigamis. "Soul Reapers". One night a "Hollow", an evil spirit was attacking Ichigo's (The maincharacter of the anime) family, and a Shinigami appeared to defeat it, the shinigami was outmatched, and transferred her powers to Ichigo, who forcefully drained all of the Shinigami's powers unto himself, thus he kills the Hollow, at first it's rather weird how he becomes stronger than the original Shinigami, with her powers, but further through the anime you're going to get why.. As it continues Ichigo's experiencing some pretty weird shit that's happening to him after becoming a half-human, half-shinigami. He learns more about his family, and it's deep secrets and such. And he learns more about himself. With that he continously grows ever stronger, with many people stronger than him (And that's what an anime is all about, a MC that can be defeated!! But despite that, he/she continues to become stronger to overcome those mountains!) As mentioned, going further into detail is going to take too much time and I can't be assed. Plus, it's completely pointless to even try.
I am constantly looking for new anime when I'm done with one, (Yeah, I'm that huge a fan of animes.) so you can expect the list to grow MUCH more, with descriptions on very many animes. :3
